E-World 2011: Deutsche Telekom fills innovation pipeline for smart grid with solutions from GreenCom Networks

  • New solutions for the energy industry
  • Keep demand in balance and integrate energy produced locally

Deutsche Telekom and the new company GreenCom Networks are working together on innovative services for the energy network of the future. GreenCom Networks develops solutions for the energy industry – for example energy control and consumption control for end customers or management of local energy production and electric cars for better control of the energy system.

“Converting the energy industry to renewable resources will impact many more aspects of life than we can imagine today”, says Gabriele Riedmann de Trinidad, responsible for the Energy business area at Deutsche Telekom. “With our partner GreenCom Networks, we are able to offer added value services which go far beyond reading, transferring and processing consumption data.”

Dr. Christian Feißt, Managing Director of GreenCom Networks explains: “Actively involving end customers and local producers opens up a whole range of new possibilities to increase efficiency in the energy system and to ensure interplay between conventional and renewable energy production.”

Switching the energy industry from fossil fuels to renewable resources presents the energy network with new challenges. The objective is to have a network which regulates itself (Smart Grid). The condition for this is to know when and where energy producers as well as consumers feed in or use what amount of energy. Electronic meters deliver this data via intelligent information and communication technology (Smart Metering).

Deutsche Telekom will be demonstrating its energy solutions from February 8 to 10 at E-world 2011, at stand 7-111 (hall 7).
